Mini Sweet Corn and Cheese Samosa

When it is cold I always feel like having hot samosas. This Indian snack is now popular all over the world.  I don't why it is called "samoosa" in South Africa.

Samosa is a stuffed savoury pastry snack. There are many varieties of stuffing but kids like cheese and corn samosa the most. Try these easy, peesy, tasty Samosas.

Great snack for parties and get-togethers.

Makes : 20

1 cup Sweet Corn Kernels (I used Frozen Corn)
1 cup Cheese
2 tablespoons Chopped Coriander
1/2 teaspoon Pepper Powder
1/2 teaspoon Green Chilli Paste (Optional)

  1. Cover samosa sheets in a damp cloth for 30 minutes. Meanwhile boil frozen sweet corn for 10 mins. or boil corn till they become soft. Discard water. Add cheese, salt, pepper powder, chopped coriander. Mix it well. You can use grated cheese or cheese cubes. Hot sweet corn melts the cheese. Keep it aside.
  2. Now gently take the samosa sheets. Place a teaspoon of sweet corn stuffing on that at one end. Fold the sheet like a triangle, and fold again. Dab the other part with water and fold it like samosa as shown in pictures. Press the corners properly (dab with water) so that the corn doesn't leak while deep frying.  Leave it to dry for 10 minutes. Meanwhile, heat oil for deep fry.
  3.
  4. Place these samosas gently in oil and fry till golden brown.
  5. Have it with tomato ketchup or coriander chutney.
