Dahi Puri is a popular Bombay Chaat item. It is sweet, spicy and cooling at the same time.
We are big fans of chaat items. My husband who studied in Delhi likes the chaat Items there, but I like chaats of Mumbai. We will always have a debate on these. We are crazy about Chaats. We sometimes skip our dinner after having these. I can live on chaats and snacks.
You can make Pani Puris, Sweet chutney (Tamarind Dates chutney) and Green chutney (Coriander Chutney) at home. But I am bit lazy to make these and after seeing Pani Puri Chutney (which is a mix of these two chutneys). I am buying that and stopped making these. Most essential things of my monthly grocery list are pani puri packet, pani puri masala paste , Pani puri masala powder and I open chaat center almost every weekend at my home .
50 - 60 Puris
3 Medium Size Potatoes
3 cups of Curds
2 teaspoons of Sugar
2 cups of Pani Puri Chutney (1 cup Sweet Chutney + 1 cup Green chutney)
Pani Puri Masala Powder
2 cups of Sev
Coriander (to garnish)
- Pressure cook potatoes with skin for 3 whistles (or boil till very soft). Remove the skin and mash them. In a bowl, add curds and sugar and beat them till you get a consistency as shown in the picture. Add water if necessary.
- Place Puris on a serving plate. Gently crack a home in the center of each puri. Place 1/2 a teaspoon of boiled potato mash in each puri. Fill it with curds to the top.
- Add pani puri chutney, pani puri masala powder and sprinkle sev on it. All these as much as you want. Finally garnish it with coriander.
- Dahi fans....You can cover the puris with curds, add chutney and sev again and enjoy.
- You can also try different combinations sprouts, potato and sprouts, potato and onion etc.
- Serve these yummy dahi puris immediately.
