Baked Salt Biscuits - Eggless Baking

Crispy, Crunchy, Salty.. These are very famous in India and are available in every bakery and every tea shop.

My cousin in US asked me to post this recipe . So this is specially for her.
My kids liked this homemade biscuits very much.

Ingredients (Makes 40-45)

3 cups All Purpose Flour / Maida
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
1 1/2 - 1 3/4 teaspoon Salt
3/4 cup Milk
1 tablespoon Butter / Ghee

  1. In a bowl, mix maida, oil and salt. It looks like bread crumbs. Pour 1/4 cup of milk at a time and mix it well. knead it for 6-8 mins.
  2. Add butter, mix it, knead it again for 2 mins and keep it aside for 10 mins. Pre heat oven. Divide dough in 4 equal parts.  Dust the surface and dough with maida. Roll each part of the dough to thin layer. Use a cookie cutter to cut biscuits to a desired shape.
  3. Grease a oven tray and place these biscuits on tray. Biscuits puff up while baking. So you need to prick them with a fork. Bake the biscuits for about 12- 15 mins or till the edges of the biscuits turn golden brown. Remove the tray from oven, allow it to cool.
  4. Store in airtight container.  Have it with Tea / Chai.
