Poornam (Stuffing for Boorelu/ Sukhiyan)

 
 
I always like making traditional food at home. Poornam is Stuffing for Boorelu but you can also eat it directly. There are different stuffings for Boorelu / Sukhiyan, with Bengal Gram or  Yellow Gram,  with Sugar or Jaggery . This time I am making with Bengal Gram and  Sugar.  
 
 

Ingredients (Makes 12-15)

1 cup Bengal Gram / Channa Dal
1 cup Sugar
2 cups Water
Pinch of Cardamom / Elaichi Powder
 
  1. Pressure Cook Channa Dal with Water for 3 whistles. Mash it.
  2. Add Sugar, Mix it well. Heat a pan, transfer this mixture into the pan. 
  3. Add Elaichi Powder. Initially the mixture sticks to the wall of the pan. Continuously mix it, stir it so that it doesn't burn at the bottom. When the mixture starts leaving the walls, take the mixture into another bowl. Allow it cool and make small lemon sized balls.
  4. Offer Poornam  to God.
